Ahhh...shade!!

We decided we can't live without shade in our yard. We miss the mature trees from our last house so like our yard we opted for insta-trees.

We had to dig large holes for the large trees. Brent had to dig this one all by himself with a pic-ax because the soil over here is mostly clay and rock (thanks Babe).

This is our Cimmaron Ash which will turn a nice red color in the fall. This tree is in the front yard on the west side of the house (on the other side of the driveway).

This is the Autumn Blaze Maple. This one is not quite as large because the tree farm in Logan ran out of this type earlier in the season so they purchased this one from another farm.

This Marshall Ash will turn a nice yellowish color in the fall which will look nice in the back yard with the Maple.

The Yard is Done!!!!

We finally got the yard done!!! We were able to mow the lawn on Friday and we were actually excited to do it. The process had its ups and downs but it feels good to have such a big undertaking behind us. We still have a lot to do in the way of landscaping (flowers, trees, shrubs, etc.) but that seems small in comparison with putting in sprinklers, cement, and sod. Enjoy the photos.

This is the 8 foot hole (literally the guy was standing in the hole and you couldn't see him in it) the sprinkler guys dug looking for our water line so they could put a bigger line in. We had to call the guy who built the house to come over and tell us where they put it.

This is a picture of our repaired gas line when the sprinklers guys HIT the gas line where the builder told them to dig. The builder ran the water line underneath the gas line, of course, so they hit the gas line a foot before they thought they would. We left the house for a few hours on my birthday but after the gas company came and cleared the area we got to go back in.

This is the back yard before.
We added some extra patio to the back of our house. You can also see the curbing. Over to the left (outside the picture) we have a square garden curbed off. We also have the kids swing set and play area on the opposite side of the house.

The Yard

So quite a few things have happened since my last post. My birthday on the 7th was great. The sprinklers were completed and although I thought it would be a fairly uneventful day, it wasn't. In attempting to find the water line the diggers punctured 2 small holes in the gas line (which was raised a foot by the builder in order to run the water line underneath). We spent a little time at the neighbors til Questar came and fixed the holes and made sure the house was okay to return to. My birthday present....we didn't explode! The sprinklers are done, the curbing is now in, we are in the process of ordering top soil for the flower beds and then getting sod in. Hopefully we will be done soon. I will post a picture tomorrow.
