Nice Conversations...

So we have a lot of nice conversations at our house.  The first happened in the car 2 days ago and began with Lillie cursing Emma...that she wouldn't have any babies when she grew up.  Nice right?  Emma was sad and said, "Oh! I really wanted to have kids." After scolding Lillie and telling her we never say such things, we got out of the car to go into the house.  Abby climbed out and told Emma, "That is okay Emma, I would still be proud of you even if you don't have any babies."  Oh! That is too sweet.  Emma replies, "If you have twins would you give one up?"  Abby's quick response, "No."  Apparently her sweetness extends only so far.

This morning Lillie stuffed a ball down her pants to hide it from her siblings and therefore ensuring she could keep it.  What she didn't count on was Emma seeing it and saying, "You look like a boy!" And then singing, "Lillie has peanuts! Peanuts!"  If you don't know what peanuts are you might refer to my last post.  I suppose it is time to have a "nice conversation" with Emma about getting older and things we should or should not say.

The prophet shops at our grocery store

Abby and I were walking into the grocery store just as an older gentleman with white hair was walking out.  This man was wearing a suit and tie with a handkerchief tucked in his pocket.  Abby taking in these details, points to the man and says "He is a prophet too!"

Ryan did it.

So Abby has this habit of always blaming things on her brother. Something gets broken-Ryan did it. Something gets left out-Ryan did it. Well he has really taken things a bit far. I was getting Abby into the bath at Granny Pam's house and I was pulling off her panties and what does Abby tell me her brother has done now...."Ryan pooped in my panties." Sure enough there is a little bit of poopy substance in her panties. Brothers!

Santa

We had our ward Christmas party last Friday night and Santa happened to stop by. Here are some highlights.

Despite our continued protests against Santa bringing Lillie a real phone she still asked the "Big Guy" for one. After we told Santa we had already talked with him and said no, he asked her if there was anything else she might like. She said a "Cake Maker". Oh come on! Are you kidding me? Santa brought her a cupcake maker last year and Mom and Dad have been regretting it ever since. Thanks a lot, Santa for helping us out!

Emma asked for a lot of dolls.

Abby has a habit of sticking her hands up to her mouth when she is nervous.

Here is Ryan before our turn camped out next to the candy canes.
Yes, the elf has already given him one.

You would think after being at the feet of Santa for a while Ryan wouldn't mind being near him...guess again. Not even for a candy cane!

OUCH!

So if you were ever wondering why you shouldn't let your little ones ride underneath your shopping cart here is one reason why...

Yes, that big section of hair used to be attached to her head until the wheel on our Kohl's basket rolled over it and ripped it out at the root of her head. See bald spot below.

Abby turns 3!

Abby turned 3 on the 22nd of April. We had a little friend party for her and invited a couple of her friends for a Tangled party. Abby is such a sweet girl. We are so lucky she is part of our family. She loves to cuddle and watch movies. She also loves jumping on the tramp and participating in whatever her sisters are doing. Abby has a great little imagination and she can always be found playing with dolls, pet shops, or ponies.

Abby blowing out her Tangled cupcake!

Little girls are everywhere!

We also had a family get together on her birthday and we had to have another cake of course.

Abby is a super funny kid. She says really cute things all the time but one of our favorites is when you are mad or starting to get upset she gets really close and asks, "You happy Mom?" "You happy, Dad?". It is so irresistibly cute that even though you tell her you are not happy and that you are upset about something you just can't tell her you aren't happy because she is so concerned. Also the fact the she continues to ask over and over until you tell her you are happy doesn't hurt either.
Another one of the cutest things she talks about is getting married. Yes, I know she is a little young but she is determined. Abby tells us all the time that she is going to get married at the temple. When we ask her who she is going to marry she always says, "The boy.". "What boy?". "The boy." As if that is his name.

What happened?

When we left for church yesterday the sun was shining and it seemed to be the makings of a beautiful Spring day. When we came out of church however, we all ran out to the car in the bitterly cold wind and sprinkling rain. When Brent asked in the car, "What happened to our nice Spring day?" Abby stated from the back of the van, "It broke." Indeed it did!

McDonald's Restroom

So despite the fact we had each of our kids go potty before they left the house for McDonald's, Abby had to use the restroom (I know shocker right?). I escorted her (rather hurried to catch up) into a stall. She insisted on being alone because she "have to go poop". So I waited on the other side of her stall door. Abby likes to talk alot while she is going to the bathroom. So she calls each play as it comes. "I go pee!" ...and the like. Two ladies came in the restroom talking with one another. Abby shouts out, "Hey, go away!" Apparantly not happy about losing her privacy in the public bathroom. "I go poop!" "Good job.", I say. "It coming out my bum bum." Good job.", I say. "Done." By this time the other ladies are laughing a bit at my 2 year old. I open the stall door. A lady comes out of another stall and gets to the sink just before us. "Hey!", Abby complains. The lady says, "You are quite the little personality." "I Abby Jane.", she says. Yup, that is our little Abby Jane.

Dentist

The two little girls and I went to the dentist this morning. They both did such a great job, I was super impressed. Emma and Abby both got their x-rays taken and Abby even let them clean her teeth. I could hear her saying "ahhh" while I was in the next room and the girl telling her how good she was doing. Ryan did okay unless someone talked directly to him then he would cry-he is a people person! When Emma was done she came in to inform me she had "no calories". We are all happy no one in the family has cavities.

Where's Abby?

Brent has off every other Friday now, so he took care of the kids while I went to do PTA stuff at the school. Apparently, while I was gone he couldn't find Abby. He started going around the house calling her name. He checked Emma and Abby's room (closing the open closet doors), called her name up and down the hall, my room, bathrooms, Ryan's room.....nothing. He enlisted Emma's help in locating Abby. She called for her....nothing. They checked downstairs while calling for her...nothing. They came back upstairs where Brent heard a small noise coming from...the girls' room? He went in and opened the closet doors and scrunched up behind the laundry basket sits Abby, who had been sitting there hiding the entire time Brent and Emma searched the house. And what do you suppose she said in her defense..."I poop".

Abby the two year old

So I can tell without a doubt that my Abby is 2 years old. Today she was looking through my dresser drawers while I was getting ready. She made it almost through one and was moving on to another when I was about to ask her to "Please leave my drawers alone." But before I had a chance to do that the entire dresser began falling on her. Our tv stand is bolted to the wall but we didn't think the dresser in our room would be a problem...WRONG! Luckily I was close enough that I was able to catch the main force of the dresser, however all of the drawers fell on top of her. Abby was okay just a little scared. Her guardian angels must be working over time keeping her safe (remember when she almost died last year). I am sure they thought she would be an easy gig (she is pretty small and sweet). Boy were they wrong.
After this little episode I went to the bathroom to do my hair. Abby tried to hand me my make-up bag but I told her I didn't need it. I was talking to Lillie answering her questions and trying to do my hair, when I look down to see Abby putting mascara all over her eyes.
What is going on with this kid...it isn't like I am leaving her unattended and yet she still gets into all kinds of trouble...she must be 2!
I should put that kid in a bubble where she can't get into trouble!

A Prickly Situation

The other day Abby went over to the neighbors house to play with Lillie and Emma. She is a little young but I decided to allow her a little independence since of course her sisters would be keeping a very watchful eye on her. She came home with quite the hairdo. Apparently, she tried walking through a bush to get into another neighbor's yard. A poky mess was the result. She did very well at sitting still while I pulled each one out of her hair. I hope she learned a valuable lesson...I know I did!

Let's Roll Baby!

So the kids and I were waiting in the car for Dad to run into Walmart and grab a few things. The girls quickly unbuckled and were up in the front. Abby found the keys Dad left in the driver's seat and snatched them up and said, "Let's roll baby!' and then tried to put the keys in the ignition. What a super cute 2 year old thing to do!

Abby Turns 2

Abby turned 2 on the 22nd of April. We had a little celebration at home for her since we had a bigger family party later. Abby is getting to be such a big girl. Her favorite activity is jumping on the tramp with her sisters. She loves playing with and doing anything that her big sisters do (we call her "Me Three"). Unlike most 2 year old kids she doesn't ask "Why?", instead her favorite question is "What happened?" She is still such a sweet kid and almost perfect (we are getting a little spoiled by this one, I'm sure she will make up for it when she gets older:).

Thank you Aunt Sarah for the cute cakes!

Plumber in Training

Oh sure, all of my kids have a problem with their bum cracks always showing. It doesn't matter how tight I cinch those pants or how long their shirt. Today however, Abby exhibited extra ability. We have been wrapping presents this morning for the girls' birthdays. One tube of wrapping paper was left unopened which Abby enjoyed yelling through and walking around whacking things. I started cleaning up the remnants while she was wandering around. I started calling her name wondering where she had gone to when I heard an all too familiar splashing sound. I ran to the bathroom to find her using the tube of wrapping paper as a plunger. She put her hand in and began splashing for good measure. She no doubt saw that one of her sisters had not flushed after going pee and being the problem solver she is she took matters into her own hands (literally) to clear what she thought was a blocked toilet. After all her sister would never leave the toilet without flushing unless there was something wrong with it. Thanks Abby for the diagnosis and help.

Toddling Toddler

Abby has a new gig these days. She has been walking for the last couple weeks. She pretty much walks everywhere now. If she falls down she gets right back up and continues walking.

No More Morning Naps

Abby has decided that she no longer needs a morning and afternoon nap. As you can see her transition is still in process.

Dish-Hand

Abby is such a great helper. Anytime I am doing the dishes she is always RIGHT there to help. She is fantastic at taking each utensil out and giving each a good licking to make sure they get extra clean during the wash. She is also good at taking out the plates and cups for me...allowing me to be EXTRA sure I want those particular items washed. Abby is the most dedicated baby to service. No matter how much I tell her I don't need any help or I move her to another area or room, she ALWAYS comes back to continue helping me. She sticks with me to the end of each load. Don't know what I would do without the extra help!

Abby and the Poop Pellet

Abby is a pretty normal kid. She is exploring her oral phase and therefore everything goes straight into her mouth. This includes rocks, sand, dirt, and even seashells (Florida). Unfortunately, this last Tuesday this trend took an ugly turn. After changing her rabbit-like poopy diaper (description added for effect) I wrapped it up and took it immediately outside to the trash can. I came back in to put a change of clothes on Abby, I noticed she was playing with a "toy", passing it back and forth between her hands. Upon closer inspection I noted the "toy" to be round and brown. After snatching it out of her hands, I found it to be one of the poop pellets that was supposed to be in the trash can. It had apparantly rolled out when I was closing the diaper. I ran to the sink and began frantically washing her hands and, you guessed it, her face since it reaked of poo also. Hard to believe this is the face of a poop eater!

Abby-kins

Grandma and Grandpa Peterson called today so I thought to make them a video of Abby. She was being super cute as always. I also wanted to make a side note that Abby is finally cutting her first tooth. I will take a picture of it when it makes its big debut.

This was taken with our digital camera so the quality is a little lower.
