Shuttle Launch

We were able to see the shuttle launch while we were in Florida. Although Brent was the most excited, we all had a great and memorable time. We traveled on a bus to Kennedy Space Center and got to sit closer to the launch site than expected. Apparently since the launch was delayed all the special guests went home so we got to sit in their seats next to the Saturn 5 museum. The museum is only 3 1/2 miles from the launch site. We felt the rumbling of the rockets and had an amazing view. Unfortunately the video footage was recorded over by a beautiful, talented, unnamed individual. Hopefully the pictures will do.

The girls and Haley Holsenbach on the bus on the way to the launch.

The girls eating their shuttle suckers (suckers in the shape of a shuttle). They made a pretty good mess. They would put their suckers down low and count down from 5 until blastoff when they would fly their "shuttle" all around the sky.

Us next to the Saturn 5 front capsule.

Brent standing next to the famous countdown clock. The shuttle is behind him in the distance.

The flames just starting to erupt from the shuttle.

We have liftoff!!!

We couldn't have asked for a better time to see the launch. The shuttle was in the shade until it reached a certain height where it became lit by the sun. It was such a clear night we could see absolutely everything. We were even able to see when the 2 boosters were disengaged from the shuttle. They were 2 tiny specks falling away and then down. They looked like 2 stars. It was awesome. Thanks Dad!!!!!
