We found a little fledgling on the ground. It was fun to teach the girls about baby birds. Sometimes they don't always fly out of the nest on the first try, sometimes they fall. They were very worried about the baby, but they felt better after being assured by a worker that the mother bird would take care of it until it was strong enough to fly (as long as we left it alone).
The girls liked these swans...they had a couple of eggs in a nest off to the side.
By far the girls favorite thing to do was chase the peacocks. They would follow each bird around trying to get it to open it's tail. They loved trying to spot these peacocks in various places around the Aviary (they are amazing jumpers). They saw them on top of cages, and buildings. It wasn't too hard to spot them, you usually heard them before you saw them (loud squawks you can hear throughout the park).
That brings back memories of the peacocks in CA. They are brave kids- those peacocks can be mean! They've stolen sandwiches right out of my kids' hands before.
